The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)

The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a U.S. government-chartered program that promotes firearms safety training and rifle practice for all qualified U.S. citizens with special emphasis on youth. The purpose of the Civilian Marksmanship Program at our club is to give all Arnold Rifle and Pistol Club members an opportunity to learn the NRA rules for high power rifle matches, using military type rifles with only iron sights. Most shooters use M-1 Garands or AR-15s, firing at 100 yard targets. Other rifles may be used but they must be capable of single loading, and magazine or stripper changes for rapid fire (bolt actions are allowed). Additionally, each shooter gets to learn more about his rifle, improve his marksmanship and have fun doing it.
